Public Health Scotland is a new organisation, set up to provide system leadership, working with stakeholders across to Scotland to tackle the health inequalities that persist in many of our communities. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus and its implications across society.

We are looking for a Head of Strategy & Transformation to lead a range of corporate functions including strategy development, planning, performance management, project management, risk management, and with a broad remit to drive innovation in service design across the organisation.

You will be joining a new senior team, working to effect change to improve outcomes for people in communities and to develop and enable a Public Health Scotland culture with a focus on impact and solutions.

You will be a very experienced manager who has already worked at a senior level within a large, complex organisation. You will have a track record of working with multiple stakeholders in the public sector and beyond, delivering and embedding real change within an organisation and across organisational boundaries. You will have vision and imagination and will be change, action and results oriented.

The post-holder should have expert specialist knowledge in strategy development and change management acquired through degree level education, with an appropriate, relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.

The post will report directly to the Director of Strategic Planning & Performance of Public Health Scotland.

Location and Working Pattern

The post is based in either Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Meridian Court, Glasgow, though the successful candidate will largely be working from home initially. Applicants on any working pattern are welcome to apply for this post though it will be important that the candidate is able to attend Board meetings and Committees.
