About the Role
The Learning and Development Partner Registrations will support the Learning and Development Manager with the planning and implementation of registerable qualifications for operational staff. This will include managing Sense Scotland’s SQA Centre and the SQA Centre staff team, as well as developing and liaising with a network of external training providers delivering registration qualifications on Sense Scotland’s behalf.
The main purpose of the job is to manage the SQA Centre and the development and delivery of SQA Awards and Units, including internal verification, linking with external training providers, researching and advising on new Awards and Units appropriate for delivery across the organisation.
You will be responsible for:
- Manage and coordinate Sense Scotland SQA Assessment Centre and undertake internal verification as required.
- Be the key point of contact for SQA communication as well as manage the Sense Scotland SQA Assessment Centre Internal Verifiers and SVQ assessors.
- In line with quality assurance processes, you will ensure all SQA systems are kept up to date with candidate information and carry out regular data cleansing.
- Support and work closely with HR Team and managers to identify and analyse learning needs in relation to registration qualifications as well as assessing work-based competencies and audit work book completions including feedback to employees.
- Submit and monitor sources of funding and applications related to the SQA Centre and external training providers.
- You will develop, select, design and review appropriate learning resources and approaches to learning, in relation to mandatory training and qualifications.
- Assist the Learning and Development Manager and Head of Research and Practice in planning a sustainable programme of learning and development opportunities that meets best practice and compliance with all legislative and policy requirements.
- Liaise with external training providers, and regulatory bodies to benchmark training, looking at best practice sharing resources through attendance at meetings, conferences and events.
- As required, support the creation of eLearning content to support the delivery of mandatory qualifications.
- Ensure you are informed and up to date with Sense Scotland policies and staff guidance and the guidance from the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council.
- Ensure that Sense Scotland policies and staff guidance are implemented into practice in relation to service provision, professional development and training, at the same time as actively promoting the principles of equal opportunities in a way that maintains a safe, healthy and supportive environment for staff and the people they support.
- Act as a role model for staff and support managers with advice and guidance in relation to key training topics
- Act as an example for others with a personal commitment to Continuous Professional Development.
- Maintain records relating to both service users and staff, required in statute and by the Care Inspectorate in line with guidance given and in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act

What you will need to succeed
To be considered for this opportunity it is essential that you have the following:
- Professional qualification in a learning-related discipline or equivalent and be able to demonstrate the ability to operate at that level.
- Hold a relevant qualification within Health and Social Care at SCQF level 7 or above that would allow registration with SSSC.
- Hold a relevant Internal Verifier award.
- Be occupationally competent in Health and Social Care.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a learning and development/social care workforce development role or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience within a setting that would develop a detailed knowledge of current issues affecting health and social care.
- Have working knowledge of the regulation, legislation and Codes of Practice within Health and Social Care.
- Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and written that shows how you understand complex information and act on it. Communication competence should be demonstrated across a range of ICT software and platforms (e.g. Word, Excel, Learning Management Systems, Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
- Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of current training and qualification requirements in relation to SSSC registration, organisational policy and procedures, National Health and Social Care Standards and the SSSC Codes of Practice.
- Be able to demonstrate your ability to manage, motivate and support staff on an on-going basis and through periods of change and be able to demonstrate effective line management of people.
- Be able and willing to work flexibly in terms of locations across Scotland and times of day to accommodate staff shift patterns and service needs – including overnight stays and unsocial hours (evenings and weekends).
