About the role

The main purpose of this role is to support the Scottish Government in realising its Active Travel in Scotland 2030 vision, where public transport integrated with walking, wheeling and cycling provides an attractive alternative to car use for longer journeys.

The position will involve maintaining and growing Sustrans' partnerships with public transportation providers while collaborating with partner organisations to find potential for investment in active travel infrastructure.

You will be implementing and updating the Sustrans’ Public Transport Integration Strategy, as well as providing in-house specialist advice, training and development to Sustrans colleagues on public transport integration.

You will report to the National Partnerships Manager and will be a member of the Strategic Partnerships team, working closely with the Business Development team as well as with colleagues across Sustrans.

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

We offer true hybrid working, a mix of home working and time within our new Hubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow with flexible working patterns to suit individual circumstances. On occasion, there may be travel and possible overnight stays required.

About you

We will look for evidence of your experience in developing and implementing strategies, policies and plans, as well as the ability to create project proposals and funding bids.

We ask that you demonstrate your knowledge and experience of transport planning, sustainable transport and/or active travel. You will have a good understanding of the wider benefits of integrated sustainable transport.

You will have demonstrable experience in project management, with the ability to communicate and build relationships with a range of partners at various levels.

We aim to be a truly inclusive employer and welcome applications from people from all parts of the community, in particular from under-represented groups. Sustrans has a long-term commitment to being a charity for everyone - reducing inequality, valuing diversity, enabling inclusion and ensuring all people are treated with dignity and respect.
