About the role

The SSSC are currently leading a review of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the UK. The suites of NOS being reviewed include social services and healthcare and childcare learning and development. Both suites directly impact on the benchmark Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) we accept for registration for much of the registered workforce.

This post sits within the Qualifications and Standards Team and will require close working with a range of external partners and internal SSSC staff to progress the work of the NOS review, regulation, qualifications and standards. The post holder will be required to work with the social services sector and lead on specified activities related to the NOS review ensuring the standards are fit for purpose to inform the SVQ qualifications.

The role is exciting and diverse and the role holder will have the opportunity to influence and support national change. You will also support the team in their core regulatory work.

The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge and experience of the social services sector, NOS and how SVQ qualifications are structured, assessed and verified.

You will be required to evidence good understanding of our registration structure and associated benchmark qualifications.

You will have exceptional skills in carrying out research, writing and developing qualifications and paying attention to detail.

The role will require extensive internal and external engagement and consultation and you will therefore ideally be experienced in engaging and collaborating with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to gather information and analyse that information accordingly.

You will also need to have a good knowledge and understanding of national policy and initiatives and what they mean for the social services workforce.
