Dundee and Angus College

Why work at Dundee and Angus College?

Just ask our 20,000 students or our 1000 members of staff. They will tell you more about why we are one of Scotland’s most successful colleges.

They might mention our extensive range of courses, or our extensive links with universities and industry, or the opportunities available for lifelong development. They may also mention some of the national awards we have won recently. Whatever they say, one message will be clear – we offer great prospects for our staff and students.

We aim to continue developing our college to support our students, our staff and our local communities to thrive. Our people are the heartbeat of the organisation and we are committed to being an excellent employer, recruiting the best people and giving them all the support, tools and development opportunities they need to progress and excel.

Pay & Benefits

Our standard working week is 35 hours and you will receive competitive pay including annual increments. There’s generous holiday entitlement – up to 60 days per annum for academic staff and up to 43 days per annum for support staff, as well as automatic membership of a career-average, revalued earnings pension scheme. Both schemes available are contributory and a tiered contribution is applied, with contributions based on your level of earnings. The College currently contributes an additional 17% of your salary into the LGPS scheme and 17.2% into the SPPA scheme. The LGPS and SPPA schemes are independently recognised as amongst the best available.

We support our working families by offering a Childcare Voucher Scheme through Sodexo (Saycarepass). These are offered through a salary sacrifice arrangement where you opt to exchange part of your gross salary for childcare vouchers and because you don’t pay tax or National Insurance on childcare vouchers, you can save up to £1,000 per year. The scheme is available on an ongoing basis, meaning you can join at any time during the year. For further information you may visit the website

In addition, we are currently working towards being a Carer Positive Employer. This national kite mark is awarded to employers who provide good quality support for employees who have caring responsibilities. The College understands it can be very demanding and emotional being a carer whilst holding down a job, and often alongside child care needs too.

We also take the wellbeing of our staff very seriously and offer discounted 'gym and swim' membership from £10 per month and a free employee counselling service. Sustainable travel is another key focus for the College, so we also offer a Cycle to Work scheme and have electric cars for taking between campuses or on College business.

Staff looking to save money on everyday costs can also take advantage of our attractive employee benefits scheme from Edenred.

At Dundee and Angus College we truly value the contribution, made by all members of staff, to the success of the organisation. We have an excellent range of benefits which are continually being reviewed to give staff an even wider range of attractive rewards for their hard work.

We are proud to be a Living Wage Accredited employer.

Location & Facilities

Dundee and Angus College have two main campus sites in Dundee, one in Arbroath and learning centres across the Angus region.

All campuses have excellent transport links and are easily accessible.

Kingsway Campus is fondly known to many locally as ‘Kingsway Tech’, being home to our Dundee-based Construction, Engineering, Landbased and Hospitality teams, among many others.

Gardyne Campus is also well-known locally, having been Northern College and University of Dundee before the multi-million pound makeover which saw it open to Dundee and Angus students in 2010.

Our Arbroath Campus is a wonderful blend of old and new, with the former Arbroath High School building now our student hub in a beautiful listed building.

Why work for us

We are one of Scotland’s most successful Colleges with a student population of around 20,000. We employ over 1,000 members of staff and have an outstanding record of achievement, named in 2015 as ‘Employer of Choice’ at the North East Scotland Cherries HR Awards. When competing against Aberdeen’s finest and oil and gas mega-companies, we are very proud our staff were recognised for the fantastic culture and wonderful services they provide.

By 2020 we want to be seen as a vibrant, dynamic and confident college that inspires success in its students and staff, delivers outstanding performance, and is highly regarded and sought after by partners, employers and the wider community.

We are proud to be an Accredited Living Wage Employer, a Disability Confident Employer and we are always happy to talk flexible working.
