Young Dundee Talent (YDT) is a remarkable community project, based upon a tried and tested formula, to support young people in our schools. Working with the City Council and all 8 of Dundee’s secondary schools, the programme will be targeted at Care Experienced and other vulnerable young people from S1-S6. Pupils have the opportunity to volunteer to sign up to participate in the programme which also includes additional experiences out-with school, such as work taster sessions and Duke of Edinburgh.

Young Dundee Talent employ Pathways Co-ordinators; specially trained education/ youth support workers, each based in one of our Secondary Schools. YDT recruit and train volunteer mentors from the business and wider community in Dundee. Following careful matching of mentors and mentees, and with the support of our staff in schools, mentors and mentees meet weekly in school. Through this process, YDT aims to provide the support, counsel and basic positive life skills that will change the prospects of these youngsters, so preventing them experiencing failed outcomes. We aim to find, grow and use their talents by harnessing the Motivation, Commitment and Resilience of all involved. The project has been live in Glasgow for 10 years as MCR Pathways/ Young Glasgow Talent, and the results are remarkable – it’s literally transforming lives.
