Main Responsibilities:

To maximise the capacity of the Service to perform effectively for the benefit of vulnerable people who have experienced violence and abuse, whilst continually seeking to ensure the efficient use of our human, material and financial resources.

  • To achieve the Service’s objectives and tasks
  • To build the Service including developing individual members of staff.

Job Activites

  • Manage and coordinate the EVAA & SfT Teams to ensure that the outcomes of the service are achieved.
  • Produce monthly reports to submit to the Service and Operations Lead to ensure effective monitoring of service outcomes.
  • Lead by example through managing change and promoting a collaborative and adaptive working culture that delivers a high quality of Service as per the Contract Scope.
  • Manage Archibald Simpson House to ensure compliance with Health and Safety, reporting any issues to be fixed.
  • Work alongside the council and other charities to ensure comprehensive support for service users fleeing violence.
  • Work in partnership with key external stakeholders and agencies as well as manage internal partnerships and work alongside other key Aberdeen Cyrenians support teams to identify vulnerable service users to provide a bespoke service to individuals in need of support.
  • Maintain and devise new referral pathways for a diverse range of service users.
  • Establish safe staff working protocols when working with service users.
  • Ensure that full Care Inspectorate registration requirements are met.

Finance/Budget Control

  • Fundraising - Identification of funding streams and responsible for assisting in the completion of funding applications as well as arranging fundraising events in liaison with the Fundraising Team. Have a clear understanding of the service fundraising strategy and awareness of fundraising targets and durations of funding streams and sourcing additional funding.
  • Managing finance / financial control - Ensuring the regular review of service budget with the Finance Team and Line Manager reporting to the Chief Executive and Aberdeen Cyrenians’ Board
  • Be dynamic with financial expenditure in order to deliver cost effective services within budget.

Compliance

  • Contract Compliance – SSSC/Care Inspectorate/Contracts & Monitoring/Funding Bodies, working to agreed outcomes and being responsible for the submission of progress reports and attending meetings with commissioner.
  • Quality Assurance – Undertaking QA Audits which includes reviewing risk assessments, policies & procedures, use of IT equipment, organisational systems and processes
  • Building Maintenance, Health and Safety -reviewing risk assessments, policies & procedures and team emergency scenario training.
  • Health and Safety – Preparations of Risk Assessments in relation to working outreach. Training of staff in Risk Assessment and Documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Fire Safety – Ensuring all staff undertake appropriate fire safety training including induction and emergency scenarios.

Organisational Development

  • Implementation of operational and strategic planning processes – Attending Management Team meetings and Board meetings as required.
  • Multi-Agency Working – Encouraging all staff to have a positive multi-agency working approach and being responsible for representing the organisation at local and national multi-agency forums.
  • Procurement/ funding – Participating in the collation of statistical information and submission of future funding for potential services.
  • Organisational Responsibilities – Attending Management Team Meetings Being responsible for carrying out QA Audits and implementing and reviewing risk assessments and policies and procedures as required.

Service Development

  • Service User Support – Responsible for ensuring service users are supported within organisational policies, procedures and within service remit.
  • Service Responsibilities – Provide support and guidance to all staff and relief workers to ensure that they adhere to the organisational policies, procedures and service remit.
  • Multi-Agency Working – Provide support and guidance to all staff and relief workers regarding attending multi-agency meetings including the child welfare system as well as risk management meetings.
  • Service User Involvement – To support peer led development throughout the service and organisation.

Human Resources

  • Responsible for completing appropriate payroll documentation to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Recording of absence and dealing with staff absences.
  • Being involved in the implementation of the recruitment process.
  • Ensuring staff are available to attend appropriate training courses.
  • Ensuring that there are effective staffing levels in order to deliver the service in line with safety requirements.
  • Ensuring that staff work according to the National Care Standards, legislation and best practice.
  • Abiding by the terms of the support & supervision ‘policy.
  • Ensuring service staff work according to the aims and values and the policies and procedures of the organisation and promote a positive working environment.
  • Monitoring the performance management of service staff including the use of disciplinary, capability and grievance procedures where necessary.
  • Being responsible for overseeing the quality and standard of work produced by the project staff as well as guiding them in how they can improve and develop within the role.
  • Taking responsibility for such areas as the approving of annual leave.

Requirements

Essential

  • Social Care Qualification (SVQ 4 Care Services Leadership and Management at SCQF Level 10 CQSW, CSS. Dip SW etc) or willingness to obtain relevant qualification within 5 years.
  • Knowledge of working with disadvantaged people.
  • Knowledge of gender-based abuse.
  • Knowledge of appropriate legislation (housing, social work, legal measures, etc).
  • Knowledge of 'resettlement' issues.
  • Experience with working a managerial or senior position in the social work with experience of support people who have been victims of domestic abuse.
  • Direct work with disadvantaged people.
  • Direct work in a social care setting.
  • Experience of networking and collaborative inter-agency working.

Desirable

  • Experience of 'resettlement' work.
  • Experience of managing and supporting staff.
