AKAM Care Ltd currently has a great opportunity for an experienced and motivated RGN Nurse to step into the role of Deputy Care Home Manager at Isle View Nursing Home. You do not need to have been in a Managerial role previously, although this is desirable; significant experience is key.

Based in Aultbea on the West Coast in the Highlands of Scotland, Isle View is a purpose-built Nursing Home, registered for up to 25 residents. We provide all levels of care for older people, including those experiencing dementia, and compassionate palliative care. Isle View Nursing Home is a local and very well-respected Nursing Home that is informal and welcoming, which serves its community both as a Nursing Home and as a main employer in the area. We are rural, set in the midst of stunning scenery and offering a wonderful country lifestyle for the right person.

You must have a current UK NMC registration and substantial Nursing experience within the Care Home sector and experience in a leadership role.

A Nursing role with us requires a high standard of clinical practice with good communication skills being essential. You will be providing nursing care and skilled palliative care. You will be developing plans of care that will aim to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality, and privacy of our residents within a warm and caring atmosphere.

Our Nurses are expected to take charge of the shift in the absence of the manager. As the Deputy Manager you will in addition support our Manger in the day to day running of the Home and in more detailed administrative tasks; compiling the ROTA, decision making and so on. The position requires strong leadership skills and flexibility. You will work both days shifts and rotate onto some night shifts.

We are looking for someone who will work well with our Manager to develop our staff and encourage teamwork, delegation, and good communication throughout the home. You will support the Manager in conducting staff appraisals and reviewing progress. You will also have an eye for the future, adapting to new best practice, new IT and be open to trying new things.

To be considered for the role of Deputy Manager, you need strong leadership skills as you will be involved in managing and offering guidance to all staff in the home to enable them to deliver best practice. You will provide leadership in a person-centred manner and represent the home, always aiming for the highest quality of standards by supporting the Manager to meet all regulatory requirements. As a positive, proactive member of the management team, you will promote and develop the service, working closely with the Manager and the owners. You will help to maintain links to all other agencies that support the service, for example, Social Work, GP’s, CPN’s, and Psychiatrists, Allied Health Professionals, the Police and Fire service. You will continually strive to achieve positive outcomes, protecting and promoting the wellbeing of all the people who use the service.

You will have excellent management skills, a positive mind-set and great attention to detail; you also need to have excellent communication skills, interpersonal, verbal and written. With a flexible outlook, the role will suit an experienced and well-organised individual who thrives in a small tightknit and busy working environment.

Away from work, the home is set in stunning west coast scenery – offering all the outdoor pursuits on land and sea and a great quality of life in a safe and secure seaside community setting.
