It’s no secret that there are endless opportunities for people in working in care – so why choose us?

Capability Scotland offer care, support & education to disabled people across Scotland. Besides the endless job satisfaction you’ll get from helping people with their personal & practical needs, your day will be filled with fun daycentre and community based activities with our customers from going shopping, to the football, the cinema or having a giggle at our hubs games/themed days.

We have full time, part time and relief vacancies at our Craigmillar community care & daycentre service in Edinburgh (EH16 4NT).

Typical shifts are from 9am-3pm or 12pm – 6pm (working 5 days out of 7 alternate weekends) although, we are happy to consider any availability – you might just be free 2 or 3 days per week – if so please get in touch.

Don’t let concerns over experience or availability hold you back. Our services are client led, based on their individual needs and planned community based activities, meaning we need to have staff on hand with a variety of skills & availability to meet their needs.

Don’t drive? – don’t let that put you off, whilst we welcome applications from drivers, our roles are based in our hub and wider community. If you do need to go out & about with our customer for that dinner and cinema trip, costs are covered at no expense to you!

New to care?

If you have strong caring values; you are kind, inclusive, open, honest, aspirational and creative – you don’t need experience. We will invest in you so you can bring out the best in the people we support. Whilst experience is desirable, you will receive in-depth training, specific to the individuals who you will be caring for. We also offer paid SVQs and numerous pathways for career progression. Most of our Senior Management team have worked in all roles, meaning they are present in the services and understand how things are, particularly in these challenging times.

What is a Community Living Assistant?

We support people with a variety of complex disabilities in our spacious daycentre setting. This bright, fully accessible setting supports 22 adult customers and offers; sensory, kitchen and craft spaces along with excellent links to our surrounding community.

You will be supporting our customers on either 1-1 or group care; your day will include helping them with their personal care, dressing, medication, communication, mobility, mealtimes and participating in their chosen activities such as; assistive technology and interactive sports sessions.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with a skill or passion to share such as baking, music or photography – if you love it, this will shine through to the people you support, giving them a taste of new experiences whilst learning new skills.
