Start afresh with a career you love and get the job satisfaction you deserve!! If you share our values and enjoy getting trying new things then this could be the role for you!
Based in Kilbirnie, our fabulous #TeamNewHouse is on the look out for a patient and understanding individual who loves getting out in the community to join them as a Support Practitioner on a permanent basis.
We recruit on values and transferrable skills, so you don't need experience in care as a Support Worker or qualifications to start your career with us. We have our own Training Academy that'll give you all the skills you'll need, including the opportunity to complete your SVQ.
The Role
You'll be providing support to a young man in his 30's within his own residential setting who has Autism. As a Support Practitioner you will be supporting his day to day personal needs, including meal planning, cooking, support with housework, observation with his medication. He will require guidance to establish and adapt routines and prompting for personal care. This is a lone working role.
The gentleman we support enjoys being active and getting out everyday which could be out for walks in the local community and drives in his car for a bite to eat. He loves dancing to music at the local discos, going to museums, tribute nights and playing a few rounds at the crazy golf. For a bit of relaxing time he enjoys chilling out and spending time on his tablet. Routine is important so everything is always planned in advance with him choosing his plan for each day.
We would be looking for you to be enthusiastic about participating and supporting him with his interests, plan activities whilst nurturing guiding him to be able to do things independently. By taking a person centred and outcomes focused approach, you will get to know him as an individual and help him recognise his potential.
For this role, it is essential that you hold a full UK driving licence with a minimum of 1 years' driving experience as the gentleman has his own can and loves going out for drives.
All we’ll need you to bring is;
- A caring and compassionate attitude.
- Great communication and organisational skills.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- A creative drive to improve the lives of the individuals you support.
- Confidence in the use of technology.
- Full, manual UK driving licence (min 1 year driving experience).
Shift Patterns
Our service provides 24/7 care and our dedicated team work sleepover shifts which are 10am-11pm (sleepover hours 11pm-7am) to the following day 7am-10am.
