Join ELCAP: it’s cool to care

ELCAP is a Scottish charity which provides care and support for individuals who are affected by learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health problems.

We have opportunities to join our dedicated team, supporting adults, children and young people. We assist the individuals we support with all aspects of daily living, enabling them to do the things that matter to them and achieve their full potential. And we work in a range of environments – in people’s homes, in educational and workplace settings, and in our community.

We are recruiting Support Practitioners in East Lothian and Midlothian on full-time and part-time contracts. We offer various shift patterns, including sleepovers and waking night shifts, as part of our programme of holistic support.

If you think it’s cool to care, we want to hear from you.

There are lots of good reasons to work for ELCAP. Here are just five of them:

  • · We are a Living Wage Employer. We pay £10.05 per hour for unqualified Support Practitioners and £11.05 per hour for qualified staff.
  • Sleepovers are paid at £10.02 per hour over and above the hourly shift rate
  • · We have a generous holiday entitlement of 33 days per year. After five years’ service, holiday entitlement increases to 38 days.
  • · We fund the cost of staff achieving Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) 2 in Social Services and Healthcare.
  • · We recognise two trade unions. Almost 60% of our staff are trade union members.
  • · We are a great place to work. 98% of our staff say they enjoy working for ELCAP.

We are passionate about making a real difference to the individuals we support, by enabling them to live better, more independent lives within our community. We want people to share our passion to join us.

Full training and induction period is provided as well as support of Continued Professional Learning.
