Desirable experience: Have experience in working with care of the elderly but not essential.

To care for residents in the home in accordance with best practice ensuring at all times residents and visitors are treated courteously and with the highest respect.

To assist the Manager with the management and development of the Care Home. To promote equal opportunities, good practice and high standards of care in accordance with care home policy. The Care Assistant will also require: -

1. To become involved in the delivery of the service in line with the SSSC and Care Inspectorate guidelines.

2. To be registered with the SSSC within the first 6 months of employment.

3. To be fully aware of the home policies and procedures and participate in the development of the same.

4. To put into practice the home’s health and safety and equal opportunities policies and to maintain the values and aims of the home.

5. To participate in the assessing, planning, implementation and auditing of care, including assessment of moving and assisting, pressure area care, wound care and infection control and promotion of continence.

6. To maintain accurate records.

7. To attend approved training courses in order to update knowledge and skills as required.

8. To support, motivate and cooperate with all work colleagues.

9. To teach and lead by example promoting best practice and participate in the introduction and orientation of new members of staff.

10. To be a good clear communicator, promote teamwork amongst staff, and

share any relevant information to fellow staff and management.

11. To provide a high standard of care and support to residents ensuring all personal and individual needs are met.

12. To maintain contact with the resident’s families and attend reviews.

13. To ensure at all times priority is given to the needs and safety of all residents and visitors within the home.

14. To manage and assess incontinence within the home.

15. To undertake other duties as determined by the manager.

16. To be responsible for allocated residents and area of work.

17. To maintain confidentiality at all times.

18. To comply with the resident’s charter of rights as laid out in the residents’ contract and brochure.

19. To work flexible hours in response to the needs of residents using the service.

20. To participate in team meetings.

21. To implement in full feasible instructions as the management may issue from time to time.
