Job Summary

This is an exciting new opportunity to join Penumbra as we launch the Distress Brief Intervention Service across Perth & Kinross, Dundee City and Angus. This will ensure that the people of Tayside will have quick access to support for distress when they need it the most.

A Distress Brief Intervention is a time limited and supportive problem-solving contact with an individual in distress. DBI is a two-tiered response; a Level 1 response from frontline partnership agencies and Level 2 supportive interventions delivered by Penumbra. DBI responds to a referral made on behalf of a person experiencing distress within 24 hours, with the provision of time limited support. The Service then delivers community-based problem-solving support, wellness and distress management planning, supported connections and signposting for a period of up to 14 days.

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic people, one to be based in Angus (Arbroath) and the other in Perth & Kinross (Perth) to support the Manager with the overall running of the Service. Each Assistant Support Manager will line manage and supervise their teams in each respective locality to assist people who use the service to establish and maintain a meaningful and fulfilling life in the community; with a focus on distress management planning. Working collaboratively with the national DBI Programme and with the local DBI partnership, the Assistant Support Managers will form part of the comprehensive DBI delivery and implementation to deliver compassionate, connected support to the people of Tayside.

In the role, you will be expected to co-ordinate and take part in collaborative meetings with key DBI partners and also to support the co-ordination and facilitation of Distress Brief Intervention training with frontline and Penumbra staff.
