Our team is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to take the lead in bringing our vision for embracing volunteering to reality. This is the dream role for someone looking to make their mark within mental health and wellbeing.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Service Manager and Communications Officer to develop and action a plan to promote and publicise volunteer opportunities
  • Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers with the competencies and aptitude required to support the delivery of WELL Aberdeen activities
  • Recognise, value and promote the importance of lived experience, equality, diversity and inclusion within the volunteer team
  • Work alongside the Service Manager and Learning & Development Team to plan and co-facilitate a comprehensive induction and ongoing training programme
  • Create and maintain a robust volunteer database which facilitates meaningful connections between volunteers and people supported by WELL Aberdeen
  • Be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of people who use the service and the organisation, within the agreed criteria
  • Lead on all aspects of the day to day administration of a large team of volunteers and their activities
  • Devise an engaging communications strategy to maintain regular contact with volunteers
  • Support positive two-way communication between the staff team and volunteers
  • Ensure best practice in volunteering is implemented and maintained
  • Coordinate volunteering activity to support service delivery; ensuring that supportive activities are delivered in accordance with organisational standards
  • Identify any areas of potential risk or conflict and feed back to Service Manager
  • Monitor and evaluate peer volunteer experiences and produce reports on outcomes and service activity
  • Plan and deliver ways to recognise and celebrate volunteer success and achievements
  • Develop effective relationships with other groups, and agencies in the area and take opportunities to promote mental health awareness in the wider community
  • Plan and facilitate service promotional and awareness raising events when required
  • Participate in training activities and meetings as required
  • To uphold Penumbra’s Code of Practice
  • To uphold SSSC Codes of Practice
  • Other duties, deemed appropriate to this grade, as and when required.
