Are you a qualified social care professional who is experienced in supporting Children and Young people to live fulfilling lives? We are looking for a caring individual who shares Quarriers’ values to join our team as a Project Worker in Glasgow.

Your New Opportunity

Families Matter Kinship Care Service is commissioned by the Health and Social Care Partnership in Glasgow to deliver a safeguarding and support service to over 300 children and young people in the North East and North West of the city, working in partnership with Children 1st in the South. Our well-established service model involves undertaking regular home visits and identifying any supports that would enhance the wellbeing of children, young people and Kinship carers, working together to ensure the support is right, taking a relational and strengths-based approach.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Project Worker to join our team on a full time 35 hours per week basis. Candidates should be qualified to SCQF Level 9, or working towards this, and have a sound knowledge of national child protection frameworks and procedures.

The safety of children and young people, and promoting their wellbeing is central to our work. They may have been affected by trauma and their kinship families may be dealing with complex situations. It is therefore essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate an understanding of the impact of trauma and child development, and of the GIRFEC national practice model as well as career experience of working with children and families.

Families Matter Kinship Care Service is committed to implementing the principles of The Promise within our work with children, young people, and their families.

At Families Matter, we keep the voices of young people at the heart of everything we do and as such the interview panel will include some of our supported young people.

Interviews for this position will be held on Monday 8th April 2024 at our Glasgow Regional Office.

You will be required to

• Work alongside professionals across Social Work Services and other statutory agencies such as Education, Health Services, Police Scotland, or Third Sector organisations who may be involved with the young person.

• Respond to issues regarding mental and emotional distress and wellbeing

• Adhere to a system of recording which contributes to the overall evaluation of the service and plans for future service development.

• Undertake any other duties or responsibilities which are commensurate with the post

The successful candidate will be able to manage their individual caseload utilising Quarriers agile working policies, however as our service is flexible to meet the needs of families, there will be a requirement to visit children and young people after school and into early evening. Access to your own transport is essential for this role as our service operates across Glasgow and the surrounding areas.

In this fast-paced but highly rewarding role, you will join a small but dedicated team of experienced colleagues who are passionate about delivering and developing the service to ensure it meets the needs of the children, young people and families we support. As a key member of the team, you will have the opportunity to co-produce and facilitate group work with children and young people, including our Kinship peer support, peer mentoring and participation groups. We also offer school holiday activity programs, Christmas outings and short residential trips.
