About the role:

As part of an exciting test for change project, we are looking for a Community Advisor. The post will help develop service delivery on information, advice and support service for Adults who identify as autistic pre diagnosis within Dundee. The project will be evaluated with a possible view to continuation beyond the initial year of the project.

Reporting to the Community Advice Services Manager:

You will:

  • Develop and deliver advice, information and support on range of issues to individuals who identify as autistic pre diagnosis.
  • Support parents by providing information and advice to help support their child.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the needs of autistic individuals across the spectrum among professionals and the wider community
  • Engage with individuals and groups to enable access to mainstream and other services
  • Support the development and collation of a range of information resources.

About You:

You will:

  • Have the ability to respond empathetically to distressed individuals
  • Manage unpredictable situations and to respond accordingly
  • Provide enabling support to empower families to support their child
  • Source and appraise information resource and other materials and signpost accordingly
  • Have contemporary knowledge and understanding of autism and autistic people and their families
  • Have sound knowledge of education, health and social service contexts across Scotland as they apply to autistic people and their families.
