Our Wellbeing Practitioners support people to lead full, active and socially connected lives, supporting people to achieve the things that matter to them.

Applicants should have, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Job Details

We have a vacancy for a female* Wellbeing Practitioner to join the team that support a young woman who lives in Craigmillar. There are full-time and part-time positions available. Sleepovers are part of the service.

About this opportunity

You will be supporting a young lady that lives in her own home in Craigmillar. This lady has autism and a learning disability and can get confused or anxious when becoming overwhelmed so it’s important her house and surroundings are calm and quiet, although laughing and having cheery staff are good to have around however staff need to be self-aware and adapt to the changing needs of the person. The support consists of personal care as well as support with cooking, cleaning, and making sure she has opportunities to ensure a good life. She has her own communication style and requires staff who will take time to build up a good relationship, get to know her and this supports her communication style.

Music, comedy, and movies are things that are important to, and she likes arts and crafts and loves to people watch when out and about. Good food and a lovely pamper evening are things that makes her happy and is important to and for her.

We Say:

This role will consist primarily of 2-1 shifts. Shift patterns are either 10 hour shifts from 10am – 8pm or 7.5 hour shifts from 12pm – 7.30pm but these can change.

The successful candidate must be flexible and able to cover sleepovers.

All team members plan and agree the rota together 1 to 3 months in advance.
