As an Activities Coordinator in Abercorn Care Limited, you'll be outgoing and able to work closely with our residents to support them to engage in and create new community links. You'll help to devise imaginative, fun and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. Part of your time will be spent getting to know our residents and, their families, before you create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing well-being, independence and social engagement.

You will be someone who can think creatively, take a dynamic and confident lead to develop and, arrange activities which stimulate and motivate all residents through the provision of a varied activities program.

Key Responsibilities

To work with all staff, residents and relatives to organise, plan and implement, meaningful activities which meet residents’ needs on a group and individual basis.

To ensure that the program of activities contains a balance of internal and external events.

Main Duties

Plan a program of activities, in consultation with residents, relatives, staff, and the manager.

Arrange activities for all residents such as music & movement, reminiscence therapy, chair exercises, monitor library books, talking books noting any special requests etc. Support with letter writing, shopping, crosswords, card/board games etc, and with maintaining individual hobbies or interests.

Converse with residents, in groups and on a one to one basis, respecting confidentiality and privacy.

Organise regular visits from representatives of religious denominations and, assist in arranging transport for those residents who wish to attend church services.

Organise and minute monthly Resident Focus Groups and use these to inform the program of events.

Participate in relative meetings to discuss upcoming activities/events and feedback on previous activities/events.

Complete the personal history assessment and This is Me (Life Story) with all new admissions and update this on a regular basis.

Record residents participation in events in their care plan on a daily basis.
