Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job Purpose

Contribute to the Neighbourhood Planning and CLD Plan agenda by facilitating the development of partnerships and networks (community, service, cross-service and multi-agency), which harness the potential of combined resources to tackle priorities and identify and achieve sustainable outcomes.

Deliver asset based capacity development, or an alternatively agreed methodology, that empowers people, individually and collectively, to make positive changes in their lives and to work together to achieve lasting change in their communities and where appropriate manage and deliver their own services.

 

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Degree in Community Learning and Development or equivalent professional qualification in Community Learning and Development

Membership of Community Learning and Development Standards Council, or commitment to join within first 3 months of appointment.

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Identifying needs, assets and opportunities using relevant information and evidence whilst involving other stakeholders

Building and maintaining relationships with a wide range of people including community members, council staff, elected members, and partner agencies in order that abilities and opportunities to work together are enhanced

Critical reflection on own practice and experience to integrate their knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes and use these effectively in their work

Utilising effective project management and influencing skills

Developing and managing personal practice and identifying their own learning and development needs.

Using self-assessment, participative processes, and evidence of the impact of their work to plan and manage their activities

Identifying, put in place or provide appropriate training and development opportunities for collaborative working

Organising, deploy and manage resources effectively to deliver projects and programmes of activities.

Working on own initiative with limited supervision

Improving performance and deliver better service

Meeting deadlines and organisational priorities

Using a range of interpersonal skills
