Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

job purpose/about the role

We are seeking an employability keyworker to support some of Aberdeen's most vulnerable people into employment or other positive destination. Knowledge of the employability pipeline and local area is essential for this role, as is experience in working with people facing a variety of barriers to employment. This role will involve working in Marischal College as well as in communities on your own initiative, and as part of a team, as well as working with partners across the city. A driving licence is not required but would be beneficial.

The purpose of the role is to support the effective delivery of employability initiatives within Aberdeen City Council and through a wide range of service providers. The role requires providing employability support to individuals on a 1:2:1 basis or in small groups, enabling them to access training and wider services, with the ultimate aim of them getting into work or an alternative positive destination. It also involves partnership working with other Council services and partner agencies.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Experience of working in an employability environment
Adult Learning and/or Youth Work Experience
PVG Membership for Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, or
willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made.

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to motivate others
Ability to prioritise and plan own work and that of others
Ability to prepare and present reports
Ability work on own initiative
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to cope with competing deadlines and interruptions
ICT literate
