Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
Based within the Youth Team, providing therapeutically referenced Throughcare and Aftercare support to care leavers. Working as part of a team where relational practice is a core ethos. Underpinning this role Provide a high quality systemic social work service within a social work unit or team to respond to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines. Be accountable for work undertaken with children and families, which includes assessing needs, planning and delivering focused interventions to safeguard children and developing plans to promote positive outcomes.
This post is for the role of social worker within Children's Social Work, care leaving team, the Youth Team. The main responsibilities within the role are the co production of Throughcare and Aftercare plans with care experienced young people. The ability to evidence the capacity to engage therapeutically and form supportive alliances with young people is essential to the role.
The role holder will:
• Create and sustain relationships which add safety with /for care leavers
• Fulfil case work responsibility for a case load
• Fulfil statutory functions as per sect 29 Children and Young People Scotland (Act) 2014
• Support young people at key transitions, guiding, leading and coordinating Pathway and Aftercare planning
• Be knowledgeable and confident in duties and how these are communicated to a range of stakeholders
• Undertake work in relation to Child and Adult protection
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
• BA/Dip SW , CQSW
• SSSC Registration
• PVG
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
• The ability to assess and balance risk and protective factors where there are protective
concerns
• Form and sustain therapeutically aligned relationships where need can be assessed
within a context of formulation and implement effective social work interventions
• Able to prioritise tasks, manage own workload and be accountable
• Demonstrate skills and knowledge which can move from being a Trauma Aware to
Trauma enhanced and specialist practitioner.
• Effective communicator, able to use language skills which reflect the components of
Write Right About Me; excellent verbal and written skills; and build rapport with a range
of individuals including children and families and other professionals
• Deal with complex issues in a sensitive and appropriate manner
• Use information management systems to maintain accurate management information
and high quality data
• Able to represent the employer across a number of forums and ensure professional and organisational integrity
