Job Description

We are looking to recruit a professionally qualified Accountant to join our pro-active and dynamic Strategic Finance Team at Aberdeenshire Council.

We are looking for an innovative individual to provide professional, efficient and effective financial services to a range of stakeholders. You must be able to work on your own initiative and thrive when thinking and acting proactively, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-professional teams across the Council.

The successful candidate will be a confident and self-motivated individual who is able to demonstrate drive and commitment, whilst having enthusiasm and eagerness to embrace change and adapt to new systems and ways of working.

In this diverse and varied role, you will provide high quality financial advice and support to the Head of Finance, Senior Management and Budget Holders within Aberdeenshire Council; and will also support the wider financial management of the Council, enabling timely, considered, and well-informed decisions to be made. You will be responsible for preparing and monitoring budgets of all sizes, have experience in the preparation of accurate projections and be able to present updates to budget holders and senior managers, both verbally and via clear and concise documentation. You will also be involved in the completion of statutory accounts and statistical returns in accordance with proper accounting practice. In addition to this there is a desire for the post holder to help adopt a culture of continuous improvement within the Finance department.

The post can take advantage of the hybrid working model, with an expectation of the attendance at meetings at a Council Office as and when required.
