Job Description

Live Life Aberdeenshire has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic efficient School Librarian at Inverurie Academy. The successful candidate will work with school and Aberdeenshire Library colleagues to promote the library service with a focus on embedding libraries as lead contributors to supporting reading and literacy.

You will be required to work on your own initiative and have a positive and proactive approach.

The successful candidate must:

• Hold a Degree or equivalent Information and Library experience and skills
• Have experience working in an educational environment
• Be skilled in engaging with learners and teaching staff
• Be passionate about libraries

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Procure and manage resources
• Deliver information literacy programmes
• Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum learning
• Develop partnerships in the school and wider community
• Issue library books and maintain library records
• Promote a reading culture across the school
• Supervise students in the library, dealing with conduct and behaviour issues in accordance with school policies

Working Pattern: This is not a flexible post. Working hours are; Monday to Friday within the school day.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
