Job Description

Fraserbugh Academy boasts a recently upgraded Technical dept with excellent equipment and hardware. We are proud to offer our learners Graphics, including at HNC level, Engineering Science, Metal & Woodwork and practical craft skills.

Our faculty of Art, Design & Technology is a vibrant, popular hub of activity, located at the centre of our campus. The faculty team is completed by technicians in both Art & Technology.

Our technical dept has been at the heart of our whole school curriculum innovation, placing skills development and learner growth at the front. Fraserburgh is recognised as an innovative school with teaching colleagues who are valued as creative practitioners, leading change in their curriculum and pedagogy. We are proud to boast of being an OECD Experimental School 2030, as we collaborate with partners in Japan on the future of pedagogy.

A prospective Teacher of Technical Studies would benefit from a robust CPD programme and a popular leadership development scheme.

Fraserburgh Academy has a unique working week:
- 60 minute lessons,
- Mon-Wed 8:32am-4pm
- Thurs & Fri 8:32am-1:10pm

Many staff benefit from this model by taking up wellbeing activities in their Thurs & Fri afternoons, and some of our colleagues from further afield make use of the Friday structure to visit family over the weekends.

A successful candidate would be welcomed into a faculty with very strong partnerships with our local College NESCOL and a major local employer, who have co-designed curricular content and qualifications for our newly revised S4 portfolio.

With a vibrant community, and strong House identity, Fraserburgh Academy would be a welcome next step for a Teacher of Technical studies who wishes to be innovative with their curriculum and their pedagogy, is seeking career progression and development through national and international projects, and who wishes to work with young people in the workshops and in wider activities to help us with our purpose: Together Creating Positive Futures.
