The Council is seeking to recruit a Senior IT Engineer or IT Engineer to undertake a specialist technical and key role within the IT Applications team to support the operation of existing large Council systems and to provide technical assistance in projects that require significant ICT expertise, such as in the introduction of new or replacement systems and technologies.

The Council is seeking an enthusiastic individual with relevant experience to join a dedicated and professional team engaged in supporting every aspect of the Council's business. The post holder will support the IT Officer to deliver high quality, efficient and effective ICT services to the Council and to fulfil the team’s service objectives and plans by working in partnership with colleagues, within and outwith the service.

This is a hybrid post working 35 hours per week. The council recognises the numerous benefits of a positive work life balance to the wellbeing and productivity of our employees. Whilst the majority of this role can be carried out remotely, occasional team working in person is a requirement of the post so there is an expectation of periodic attendance in Lochgilphead or Helensburgh.

Benefits include generous holiday and sick pay entitlement, access to retail and high-street discounts, access to flexible working (Flexi time), Employee Assistance Programme, Group life assurance, unlimited access to the councils eLearning platform to support your personal development, as well as access to the local government pension scheme.

You should take note of the essential requirements specified in the Job Description and Person Specification and include all necessary information when applying.

You should also note that the advertised salary for this post is currently under review and subject to ongoing local government pay award negotiations.

We may consider appointing a less experienced applicant who meets the essential requirements for the IT Engineer post at LGE9 level. Both job descriptions have been made available and suitably qualified and experienced applicants are invited to apply.

Applicants should note that:-

  • This post is not suitable for job share
  • The  post-holder will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Argyll and Bute and beyond to meet the operational requirements of  the Service.
