The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for an Accountant to lead complex work across a variety of professional disciplines including management accounting, business partnering, financial accounting and project accounting.   This post requires a full Professional Accountancy qualification which is recognised by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies, however relevant experience may be taken into account in exceptional circumstances.  

You will be a key member of a team within the Council’s Finance Business Partnering Section providing support and advice to the following areas:

Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership: you will provide support and advice to the Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership Executive Management Team and the Edinburgh Integration Joint Board (EIJB) Chief Finance Officer covering a wide range of adult social care services. You will be responsible for financial reporting and control in relation to specific elements of the Council’s delegated Health and Social Care gross revenue expenditure budget of £390m and related income and funding of c.£100m. This will include budget development, revenue monitoring, preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting the development of new initiatives. 

We’re looking for professionals who can deliver excellent client service as well as contribute their professional expertise to the development of financial management and complex projects.  

You must be able to build effective relationships and work collaboratively and constructively with service managers and partners to achieve agreed outcomes. You will work closely with other members of the Finance team, service managers and external agencies providing professional financial advice ensuring the highest standards of client service, professional practice and financial governance are achieved.

The salary range for these posts is £40,275 to £47,654. The initial salary placement within this range will take account of the previous experience and demonstrated competences and skills of the successful candidate. A pay award for 2023/24 (effective from 1 April 2023) is currently being negotiated.
