Accounting Technician
Waverley Court

Salary: £28,854 - £34,057 per year
Hours: 21.6 hours per week

The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for an Accounting Technician to work across a variety of professional disciplines including management accounting, business partnering, financial accounting and project accounting.

You will provide support and advice to the Housing and Homelessness service areas, working flexibly as required. You will work as part of a team supporting budget development, revenue budget monitoring, annual accounts, the development and maintenance of effective internal controls and development of new initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who seeks to develop their career in Finance.

The successful candidate will be able to build strong relationships with our client service, Finance colleagues, and internal partners and will be able to analyse, interpret and communicate financial data clearly and effectively. Ideas and initiative are welcomed and encouraged as we continually look to identify ways to improve delivery of our services. IT skills are a must, particularly Microsoft Excel, and candidates should be able to use spreadsheets confidently and competently.

Successful applicants will be provided with the opportunity to undertake professional examinations through AAT / CIPFA.

Working for us means you will be able to benefit from:

  • Up to six weeks paid leave, inclusive of 6 public holidays in year, with a further increase of 5 days annual leave after five years of previous reckonable service or service with the Council
  • A career average local government pension scheme with generous employer contributions
  • Paid sickness absence, health and wellbeing support and other family friendly policies
  • Salary advances on public transport season tickets
  • Access to corporate discounts in shops, cinemas and other leisure venues

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
