This session there are around 250 children in the school, comprising of 10 classes, and the nursery class provision is 30 full time spaces.

We are looking for an energetic and charismatic teacher who must have secure knowledge of the curriculum. The principal teacher will have a class commitment, responsibility for the nursery, and should have experience throughout the school and a willingness to teach wherever the need is. Knowledge of play-based learning would be beneficial alongside how children develop early level literacy and numeracy skills as the post holder will be required to develop early level in the nursery. Knowledge of digitals skills in early years, UNCRC Children’s Rights, and Learning for Sustainability are desirable.

Role Purpose This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a challenge and wishing to gain experience in a management role and be part of the Leadership Team. You will, under the direction of the Head Teacher, and with input from the Early Years Improvement Team, lead early learning and childcare staff in the Nursery and work as part of a wider team, to lead the planning and delivery of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in the school Nursery setting.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
