Woodlands School is a Special School in Currie, South-West Edinburgh, providing personalised education for secondary-aged learners with a wide range of learning disabilities. The school is set in an attractive campus, in a beautiful, wooded area named Roley’s Wood, which we share with Currie Community High School.

Our school has a roll of 80 learners and our classes have a maximum of 8 learners, but most are smaller to better meet individual needs.

Our accommodation provides a tailored learning environment for our learners. Our school emblem is an acorn which symbolises our nurturing and achieving environment, allowing our young people to grow into strong individuals with a sense of belonging.

Our learners benefit from a breadth of opportunities covering all areas of the curriculum and we have a strong focus on making learning accessible using a variety of strategies, techniques and motivators.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic general class teacher, primary or secondary trained to work in our school for learners with additional support needs.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching classes of up to eight learners. Key responsibilities are:- Developing and implementing engaging and accessible lessons Planning flexible programmes of learning which meet the specific needs of all learners. Working closely with colleagues and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
