Community Care Assistant
South West Hub
Salary: £24,890 - £28,854
Hours: 36 per week
Creative, enthusiastic, emotionally resilient, individual being sought to join the busy South West Locality, which is made up of several teams based at Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre and Acute hospital sites in Edinburgh.
The successful applicants will carry out a variety of tasks including assessing for POC, assessing for / fitting simple equipment in service user’s homes and care package reviews. A large part of this CCA post will include working closely with hospital social workers and NHS colleagues to support hospital discharges by arranging deep cleans, initial shopping, care home interest visits and initial care home reviews. Therefore the ability to work from and visit people in the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh and Western General Hospital is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in a duty rota responding to urgent or crisis situations.
Applicants should have previous experience in a range of social care and / or health settings, have effective communication and listening skills and ideally experience of manual handling techniques. The successful individuals must have the ability to build positive and productive relationships. You will need to be highly proactive, and creative.
This role require an understanding of Adult Protection legislation and be able to work with staff to support risk assessment and decision making.
You should have good organisational and practical skills and be flexible and creative in the delivery of the service. You should have good communication and listening skills, as well as sound knowledge of basic IT systems.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
