We are recruiting for an experienced Depot Stores Operator.
The City of Edinburgh Council is looking for a Depot Stores Operative to join our busy Fleet and Workshops operation.
The position will report into the Depot & Stores Team Leader however day to day reporting will be dependent on depot location. The City of Edinburgh Council has several depot location throughout the city. The role of the Depot Stores Operative is to maintain and manage stock holdings of the stores department facilitating the Operational Services of the organisation including Fleet Services, Workshops, Roads, Waste and Parks services. In addition you will be expected to assist customer inquiries, liaise and work with external suppliers including taking deliveries and maintaining general upkeep of site and yard. You will also be required to assist the workshop with collecting of parts and equipment as well as help with vehicle changeovers for servicing needs.
It is essential that you possess experience of working in an operational engineering environment and are comfortable with controlling and issuing of parts associated with such industries as roads infrastructure or vehicle and plant maintenance. Maintaining the balance between stock on the shelf and associated cost as well as planning for upcoming work allocation is key therefore experience of working to a 'just in time' culture and maintaining levels of imprest stock is key.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
