The school’s mission statement is St. Mark’s is a place of learning and kindness where children’s rights are at the heart of all we do. Everyone feels safe, welcome, included, looked after, and encouraged to live a life of faith.

St Mark’s Primary has a new Early Learning and Childcare building within the school grounds that provides various placement patterns for children between the ages of 2 and 5. The Early Learning and Childcare building has capacity for 110 children. The nursery is spacious and has a well developed outdoor play area.

Although St Mark’s is a denominational school, families of other faiths or of no faith are welcome within the community of the school.

The Standard for Headship is now an essential requirement for this post. If the successful candidate does not meet this requirement the post may be offered on a temporary basis for a maximum period of 20 months if the panel is satisfied that, on an individual basis, there is a likelihood that the Into Headship qualification will be achieved within this timescale. A permanent contract will be offered only when the course is successfully completed. If it becomes clear that this essential qualification will not be achieved within 20 months then the contract will be ended with appropriate notice and the temporary Head Teacher will then revert to a DHT1 post available across the city.

Teachers are responsible for seeking approval of the Bishop of a Diocese for appointment to any post in a Catholic School in that area. For details on how to seek approval please go to http://sces.org.uk/church-approval/
