Modern Apprenticeships (MAs) offer new entrants to the labour market the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to train in the relevant occupational area. They include the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications that help kick-start a career without having to study full-time. New entrants include school and college leavers, those with no previous work experience and/or vocational qualifications.
Edinburgh Road Services (ERS) provides a multi-trade road, footway, street lighting, cycleway repair and maintenance service to the City of Edinburgh Council.
The post holder will be involved in the Council’s Modern Apprenticeship programme, work towards an SVQ Level 2 in Highway Maintenance and be expected to become a competent Road Worker within 2 years of commencing their MA.
CRITERIA
Applicants must be resident of Edinburgh. ( Eh1-17 EH 28,29,30)
Applicants must have left secondary education in the past three years or currently on a City of Edinburgh Council employability training programme or aged up to 29* with disability or care experience.
Applicants must show a willingness to participate in a Modern Apprenticeship programme.
Applicants must be willing to obtain a driving licence and must be able to travel to college.
*Due to criteria for external funding for qualification.
