The post represents an opportunity to join a citywide peripatetic Service which supports children and young people with Additional Support Needs. The role involves being part of a team which works in the North East of the City and provides bespoke support to individuals when requested by schools. There may be opportunities in future to work across a variety of school settings with children whose needs vary but the successful candidate will primarily be deployed to support an individual with complex medical needs within Leith Walk Primary School, supporting transition to Drummond High school, alongside another member of staff in a similar role. The responsibilities of this post will involve significant provision of personal and medical care and one-to-one support.

This post would suit someone who has previous experience working with children with complex special needs and who understands and values the importance of the children's health and wellbeing. Flexibility, enthusiasm and a commitment to inclusion are some of the key skills required to fulfil the post.

All required training would be delivered as part of the induction process.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
