Waverley Court

Salary: £42,717 - £50,550

The City of Edinburgh Council and its partners in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal have an ambitious housebuilding programme which aims to deliver high quality, energy-efficient, affordable homes within the region.

We are looking for a Senior Housing Development Officer to join the Council’s Development and Regeneration team to support the delivery of a significant pipeline of housebuilding across the South East region. The role will build on the outcomes of the Edinburgh Home Demonstrator programme and implement the new delivery model for affordable housing.

Edinburgh and its partners are at the forefront of innovation in affordable housing provision, working closely with developers, housing providers, construction firms and investors to deliver much needed affordable housing across the city region.

We need an enthusiastic person who can help to develop and deliver new strategies to increase affordable housing, to address homelessness and make living in the region more affordable to all.

The post will give you the opportunity to develop relationships with Government, partners and stakeholders, shape local housing delivery and enable some of the most exciting housing projects in Scotland.

The post holder should be enthusiastic with excellent communication skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to challenges. You should have experience of delivering successful projects through partnership working, able to deal with changing demands and identify opportunities for service improvement. You should have prior experience of managing funding and working with professionals in the public and private sector.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
