Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools Bonaly, Colinton, Pentland, Longstone and Oxgangs, we strive to “Provide learning opportunities of the highest quality.” Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support.
We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff. This provides us with the opportunity to provide a wide range of curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of all of our pupils. We also provide opportunities for personal achievement and support pupils to develop skills for learning, work and life.
We are looking to recruit teachers to join our dedicated staff who will be ambitious for all our pupils and are committed to supporting our young people to develop to their fullest potential.
Modern Studies is a hugely popular subject at Firrhill with very high levels of attainment. Having grown in popularity very quickly Modern Studies is now a well-established and very successful part of the curriculum. Characterised by high-quality teaching and a focus on pedagogy that engages pupils through a wide range of high-impact approaches, we are looking for an innovative and hard-working colleague to join this highly successful faculty.
This post is for an August start and, as such current probationers who will have achieved full GTC registration by August 2023 are invited to apply.
We would welcome applications from candidates able to teach a second Social Subject in addition to Modern Studies.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
