Children, Education and Justice Services

Wider Achievement and Lifelong Learning Manager CLD Youth Work
Waverley Court

Salary: £47,654 - £57,042 per year
Hours: 36 per week

Following an organisational review, this is an exciting opportunity to join the new Wider Achievement and Lifelong Learning Service. This new role will lead and develop a new service for youth and children’s work for the City of Edinburgh Council.

We welcome applications from candidates from diverse backgrounds who hold a CLD or equivalent qualification. You will have extensive experience of youth and children’s work, including developing policy and strategy. Your experience and skills should include managing and developing a team and you will be a strategic and inspiring leader.

Important aspects of the job include building effective partnerships with schools, other Council services and third sector providers. A good understanding and knowledge of current national priorities and policies relating to youth and children’s work and education is essential. In addition, you will demonstrate creativity and innovation in planning, designing and implementing specialist projects, initiatives and citywide services. There is a requirement to balance the needs of learners in communities with local/national strategic drivers and budgetary constraints.

The successful candidate will be adept at problem-solving, creative and innovative in their approach with a proven track record in developing and implementing self-evaluation processes. If you have the skills and experience to lead a new service creatively and compassionately, we would like to hear from you.

If you would like an informal conversation, please contact Linda Lees, Interim Wider Achievement and Lifelong learning Service Manager at: linda.lees@edinburgh.gov.uk

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
