GIS Planning Technician, Stornoway (4022)

37 hours per week, Permanent Post

£32,509 to £35,229 per annum (inclusive of £2,742 Distant Islands Allowance per annum)

A GIS Planning Technician is sought to provide specialist support regarding mapping, geography and integrating digital spatial information within the Planning Service, ensuring key aims are met and services are delivered efficiently and effectively. You will oversee the preparation and production of maps and plans for statutory Development Plan and Development Management processes and other section mapping needs.  You will be responsible for the sourcing and maintenance of spatial data sets e.g. listed building, environmental designations etc. required for statutory Planning processes and will be the Departmental lead Officer on implementing e-planning objectives relating to GIS and digital constraint data held by the Planning Service.

You will be the Planning contact for the carrying out of online consultation for planning applications with the Health and Safety Executive through it’s GIS based advice service for Land Use Planning. Your role will include being lead officer on implementing e-planning objectives relating to GIS and digital constraint data.

You should have a detailed understanding of the role of providing GIS, mapping support and knowledge of GIS software. You must be educated to HND level in a relevant discipline and/or have proven experience providing a GIS support role in a Local Authority/Planning Service or other relevant workplace.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
