Job Description
Learning Support Teacher, Lewis & Harris Schools (4038) - Fixed Term
21 hours per week, fixed term to 27 June 2024
£24,838 - £30,755 per annum, inclusive of £1,654 Distant Islands Allowance per annum
The post holder will be required, on a fixed term basis, to implement the Council’s Inclusion Policy by working with schools and other agencies to support pupils with additional support needs.
All practice underpins the duties required under the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, updated 2009 & Education Scotland Act (2016) as summarised in the guidance document Supporting Children’s Learning - Code of Practice.
You will be required to work collaboratively and in partnership with schools to support pupils with additional support needs, ensure the Council’s staged intervention process is implemented, advise on appropriate materials to allow pupils access to a differentiated curriculum and/or elaborated curriculum and regularly assess pupil’s educational, social, emotional and behavioural needs and devise and implement methods of effectively meeting those needs.
Requirements
The successful candidate must have an appropriate degree / diploma in Teaching and GTC Scotland Registration and have teaching experience of pupils with a broad range of additional support needs.
A driving licence is essential.
The Individual
The above teaching post is on a part time, fixed term basis to 27 June 2024. The hours of this post will be split between Back and Tong Primary Schools.
