Quality Improvement Officer (Attainment), Western Isles

35 hours per week year, fixed term of 23 months

£72,858 per annum, including Distant Islands Allowance

A Quality Improvement Officer is sought to raise standards in education in line with National Priorities and to promote continuous improvement within Education and Children’s Services, through quality control and assurance processes in line with QMIE criteria on performance monitoring.

In addition, the Quality Improvement Officer will provide a curriculum development and support function through the monitoring and dissemination of best practice in the sector and subject areas, and work with the Head of Education to ensure appropriate policy, procedures and strategies are developed in line with National Guidance.

You must have: an in-depth knowledge and understanding of learning, teaching assessment and curriculum; knowledge of the application of quality assurance processes including use of self-evaluation and performance information to promote improvement: significant knowledge of the National Improvement Framework and the Scottish Attainment Challenge; and knowledge and understanding of the legislative and policy frameworks which govern education at national, local and school level.

You must be self-disciplined and able to work to strict deadlines, a strategic and innovative thinker, be able to work as part of a senior strategic team and also on own initiative and have effective leadership skills.

You should hold a degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject along with current GTCS registration and Previous experience of a Senior Management post within the Education system.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

The post will be based within education offices at either Sandwick Road in Lewis or the Lionacleit Education Centre in Benbecula.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Fixed term appointment for 23 months.
