Business Manager
Dumfries
£55,524 - £59,820
This is a hugely exciting time to be part of driving change in Dumfries and Galloway Council. As we look to the future, we see the opportunity to adapt and transform our services to ensure they meet the needs of our families and communities in a sustainable way.
To support this critical work, we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Business Manager who has experience in collaborating and finding customer focussed solutions for a range of systems and processes along with developing projects in a public service environment. You will support the management team to lead and deliver improvement projects and initiatives across predominantly the Thriving Communities section (which includes Leisure, Culture & Wellbeing, Youth Services, Employability, Lifelong Learning, Community Planning & Engagement, Emergency Planning and Community Safety). The role will also contribute to achieving synergies across the wider Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Directorate by supporting the sharing of best practice, service planning and quality assurance.
You will be responsible for supporting and coordinating the efficient and effective delivery of performance monitoring and reporting, health and safety, workforce development, new initiatives that require to be deployed consistently and a range of reports and briefings. This will include contact with other services, external customers and supporting responses to enquiries from politicians.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent (SCQF Level 9) in an appropriate discipline or have significant experience at a senior level within an organisation.
Knowledge of current legislation, guidance and national policies relating to education and learning is desirable.
You will have experience of leading a team, managing systems and processes and working with external partners alongside a proven and consistent track record of planning, developing and implementing change.
You will possess effective communication, numeracy, negotiation, influencing and project management skills as well as the ability to ensure organisational and service readiness for change through aligning values, structures, systems, skills, staff and strategy.
This post is subject to candidate vetting through Disclosure Scotland.
