Fire Safety Officer (18/779)

You will be required to work 28.75 hours per week,52.14 weeks per year.

You will be responsible for supporting the council in influencing the fire safety culture and ensuring compliance with all aspects of fire safety legislation and approved industry best practice.

 

The Council Health and Safety Team, between us, support a wide range of front-line services supporting our communities such as Education, Social Work Services through to Sport and Leisure Centres, Roads, Customer Services, Community Assets, Harbours to name just a few. You will take an active lead in fire safety strategy and undertake priority fire risk assessments within council premises across Dumfries and Galloway region.

You will engage on, prepare and review fire safety arrangements; provide professional fire safety advice and work closely with managers and employees in avoiding, reducing and managing fire safety risks and supporting on practical solutions for continuous improvement.

 

You will be educated to SCQF Level 7 or EQF level 5 in a fire safety related subject and/or be a Member (or above) of a relevant Professional Body Registration Scheme (e.g. IFPO, IFSM, IFE). You will have extensive relevant practical fire risk assessment experience. A full valid driving licence is essential.
