An excellent opportunity has arisen for the post of Housing Options & Homeless Assessment Assistant, within the Housing Options & Homeless Service.
You will be part of our busy Housing Options & Homeless Assessment Team, with responsibility to assist the Housing Options & Homeless Assessment Officers in carrying out the Council’s Statutory Duty in relation to Homelessness.
You should be educated to minimum Standard Grade or equivalent in English and Mathematics, you will have excellent communication, administration, and PC skills as well as some experience of dealing with the public.
This post will provide administrative support to maintain and update computer systems, therefore experience in the use of Excel and Microsoft Office is essential.
You will be required to answer telephone queries.
You will be required to deal with and progress initial contacts from people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
You will be required to provide front line advice to clients including in person, telephone, and email enquiries.
Provide support in office administration, including ordering supplies, record incoming and external mail.
You will liaise daily with people at threat of homelessness, The Housing Options & Homeless Assessment Assistant will liaise with a range of stakeholders, including Registered Social Landlords, Private Landlords, Housing Associations, and Housing Support Providers.

You should have the ability to adapt, organise and prioritise your workload, be able to work under pressure, use your own initiative and work as part of a team to meet deadlines.
This post covers homeless administration functions for the whole Housing Options & Homeless Service; therefore, you will be required to provide administration for other Housing Options & Homeless Services Offices, in Annan, Kirkcudbright and Stranraer.
You must be a flexible team player with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer care.
