£42,894 - £45,990
Dumfries and Galloway’s Fostering and Adoption Service has an exciting opportunity for a social worker to join the team covering maternity leave of up to one year (36hrs per week). You would be joining an established region-wide team who provide a comprehensive service to foster, adoptive carers and supported lodgings providers from initial enquiry, through to approval and thereafter providing a high level of ongoing support and training, to ensure children and young people receive the best possible care.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post
As a Supervising Social Worker, you will participate in the recruitment, assessment, and supervising of foster carers, adoptive carers, supported lodgings providers and their families, and offer support, advice, and guidance. You will also be expected to partake in the delivery of training and support groups for our carers, as and when required. This may entail working evenings and weekends however this will always be on a planned basis.
The ideal candidate would be an excellent communicator, both in written format and vocally, be able to build relationships quickly, committed and motivated to keeping to timescales, and passionate about ensuring positive outcomes for children and young people by producing high quality assessments. Ideally the candidate should have knowledge and experience of assessing foster carers or adoptive carers or working with looked-after children and the challenges faced by them.
Whilst there is an opportunity to work from home on occasion the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to base themselves in an office, and be part of a well-established, experience team.
The service is committed to ensuring high standards of practice and welcome candidates who have the energy and enthusiasm to make significant contributions to increasing our foster and adoptive carers within Dumfries and Galloway to meet the needs of our children and young people who are unable to live at home or require a forever home,
