Arts and Museums Officer – Access and Audience Development (Fixed term)

This post will assist with the integrated management of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Arts and Museums Service, focussing on the marketing and promotion of our arts and museums venues and activity programmes

 

Dumfries and Galloway Council is offering an exciting fixed term opportunity to join the Council’s Arts and Museums Team and support the effective marketing and promotion of our art galleries, museums, and the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre, to local and visitor audiences. The postholder will research and develop content relevant to collections, permanent and temporary exhibitions, activities and events (including cinema screenings) across the Arts and Museums service, and will work with colleagues to plan, develop and deliver marketing and promotion activities aimed at increasing audience numbers and broadening access to our services.

 

The postholder will carry out customer and stakeholder engagement to inform marketing and promotion planning, and will support other aspects of service delivery including school and community use of the service, and the planning and delivery of activities, events and exhibitions. They will also assist with the development of increased spend per visitor through merchandising, commission sales and donations, and with sourcing of external funding to support arts and museums projects.

The postholder will be educated to SCQFL Level 9 (e.g. degree) or equivalent and Associateship of the Museums Association (AMA) or equivalent, marketing training, and evidence of continuous professional development will be an advantage. Experience of arts and museums access provision; exhibitions/events marketing; interpretation, programming, customer consultation and performance management is essential, as is knowledge of marketing and promotion of collections, exhibtions and events.

 

Our museums and galleries are located in several sites across the region so an ability to travel across Dumfries and Galloway is essential and a full driving licence will be an advantage.

The post is available on a full or part-time basis for up to one year @ 36 hours pw, or up to 20 months @ minimum 21.6 hours pw.
