Dumfries and Galloway Education and Learning Directorate is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced professional seeking a pivotal role in shaping the future of teaching in the region as an Education Support Officer (Professional Training and Development) to join our team. This post is for 35 hours per week over 52 weeks.

 

In this key position, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, highlighting, implementing and evaluating programmes, approaches and practices which support improvements in employee training and development. Collaborating closely with educational institutions, you will drive excellence in professional development whilst actively contributing to our recruitment and retention efforts.

 

A core aspect of the role is to take a lead role in coordinating, designing, implementing, and evaluating professional development programmes that align with Directorate goals and individual career paths across our whole employee team including teaching and non-teaching staff.

 

The role requires that you consult and share information through needs assessment and analysis and by looking outwards to identify existing good practice and share this across the directorate.  You will be required to work across Directorate services to ensure that you have the requisite knowledge and understanding of the key drivers designed to improve outcomes for learners.

 

Your leadership will ensure an improved learning and development culture, with a focus flexible approaches to learning, onboarding support and will support leadership development pathways.

 

To ensure the success of these programmes, you will ensure tracking and monitoring of completion of the statutory requirements for teaching and non-teaching qualifications to meet professional standards. By analysing data and identifying trends, you will contribute to continuous enhancement of learning and development programmes.

 

Collaboration is at the heart of this role, as you establish and nurture partnerships with external training providers as well as our Corporate Learning and Development Colleagues to supplement internal development programs and offerings.

Requirements

This post will lead on this work within the Education and Learning Directorate and report to the Education and Learning Workforce Manager.

 

This is a role in the Education & Learning Directorate and requires strong leadership and management.

 

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only). Please see attached guidance for further information.

 

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
