Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com Leisure and Culture Dundee, in partnership with Dundee City Council, is looking to recruit an Active Schools Lead Sports Coach to join our successful Active Schools Team. This exciting role requires candidates to have the desire and commitment to coach Active Movers physical literacy programme to improve lives of children and young people through safe coaching practice. In addition, candidates should have rugby coaching experience, experience in organising sports programmes and events and experience of engaging with children and young people through sport and physical activity. If you think you have all the above, and hopefully more, then Active Schools Lead Coach role is for you. You will be working term time (35 weeks per year) with the Active Schools Team, located at various schools in Dundee.

UKCC Level 1 or equivalent in any sport

Responsibilities

As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport Section, you will contribute to the section’s social objectives by developing and delivering our Active Movers programmes in schools within the Active Schools services. You will assist in the delivery of Active Movers physical literacy Programme, by leading coaching sessions in primary schools to improve the services and increase lifelong participation for Dundee children.

The Individual

Candidates should have a UKCC Level 1 or equivalent in any sport and extensive experience of coaching physical literacy with children. Candidates should also have experience of working with children from a variety of backgrounds in a physical activity setting and experience in supporting other coaches and volunteers. In addition, the candidate should have excellent organisational and planning skills, ability to work in a team and independently and be self-motivated. Can communicate effectively with children and young people. Other skills include excellent interpersonal skills, flexible and adaptable, excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate and enthuse others The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours and must be willing to undertake personal development. Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekend work where required. Must be willing to undertake personal development Member of PVG Scheme or willingness to become a member of the PVG Scheme with satisfactory Scheme Record and/or Scheme Record Update.
