Job Summary

Opportunities have arisen for a suitably qualified Social Worker within our Social Work Mental Health Team. 

The Social Work Mental Health Team is an established integrated team, which promotes close multi-disciplinary working alongside health colleagues within the Community Mental Health Team based in Kirkintilloch.  The Social Work Team provides a range of statutory duties and community care services to individuals who experience severe and enduring mental health issues. 

We are seeking a Social Worker to assist in the delivery of our community care duties and contribute to complex care management.  As such you will be highly motivated with experience of promoting recovery focused practice, be confident in managing risk and looking for creative ways to promote independence. You will have experience in self-directed support and have an understanding of mental health social work. 

Transitions based work and the promotion of personalised services to young adults who meet our eligibility criteria and their families are central to our approach alongside assessment and care management responsibilities across social work services.

You will need to demonstrate a clear knowledge of generic Adult Services Legislation, an understanding of the relationships between statutory duties and local authority responsibilities and how this impacts and affects service delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity offering a varied and diverse range of experience across all aspects of social work within mental health services within an integrated team.

You will need to hold a full driving licence. 

Applicants should hold a professional social work qualification and will have experience of community care work within a focus on mental health and/or community care social work.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

 

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
