East Lothian Works are recruiting experienced individuals to work with adults and/or young people (post school) to improve the numeracy, literacy, IT and employability skills. In particular we are looking for tutors to deliver numeracy as part of the new Multiply programme (UK Shared Prosperity Fund). In line with Multiply, the No One Left Behind strategy and the draft Adult Learning Strategy, tutors will be part of the wider employability team, offering a learner centred approach and supporting those furthest away from the labour market to make meaningful progression along the strategic skills pipeline. SQA qualifications in Core Skills and Employability are offered as part of our provision and tutors would be expected to deliver these either on a 1-1 basis or in groups.

Successful applicants will be recruited on a casual basis to meet business need.

Home Working Consideration

Job Details

To deliver a range of core skills courses and 1:1 tuition to young people (post school) and adults. Use appropriate methods to promote learning and achievement, including the associated activities related to the preparation, delivery and assessment of the course.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to a minimum of HNC/SVQ Level 3 in the subject being delivered.
Evidence of engagement in continued professional development and lifelong learning.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
