Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £15.36 - £16.69
This is a 52-week non-sessional post i.e. it will include working during the school holidays.

Maternity cover until 31st May 2024
Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Thursday, 08:45-15:15

This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner looking to join an established team.

Together with the team you would be expected to help deliver high quality Early Years care within the Preston Tower Nursery.

Preston Tower Primary is large friendly school with around 900 pupils, split over 2 campuses. West Loan campus is for nursery, P1 – P3 pupils and the Preston Road campus is for P4-7 pupils. The successful applicant will be based in our West Loan campus. Our nursery is divided into 3 rooms and we also have a provisions for 2 year old. Each of our rooms are staffed by one Senior Early Years Practitioner as well as highly skilled EYP’s and Support workers. To work as an effective member of an early years team delivering a high quality child centred service which meets the needs of children and their families.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation in relation to Early Learning and Childcare.

SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
